Windrose Dedicated Server - Updating Your Server
When to Update
You should update your server whenever a new game update is released. Windrose is in active development, so updates may be frequent.
If you or your players are unable to connect and receive a "Server not found" error, a client/server version mismatch is the most common cause. Make sure both your game client and server are on the same version.
How to Update
- Stop your server.
- Click Steam Update in the left-hand menu.
- Click Update to begin the process.
- Wait for the update to complete. This may take several minutes depending on the size of the update.
- Start your server.
Tip: It is recommended to create a backup before updating, in case you need to roll back. See the Backup and Restore guide.
Version Mismatch
The Windrose game client and dedicated server must be on the same version to connect. If a game update has been released:
- Update your game client via Steam.
- Update your dedicated server using the steps above.
If only one side is updated, players will see a "Server not found" error when attempting to connect. This is a known limitation — the error message does not currently indicate a version mismatch.
