Windrose Hosting

Your archipelago stays online around the clock. Crewmates in other time zones sail, build and raid dungeons whether you're logged in or not. The developers recommend crews of up to 8; our servers support up to 20 slots, the ceiling we've verified stable in practice. Windrose supports dedicated servers natively, both self-hosted and rented, and on GG Host the server software comes preinstalled, updates automatically, and sits behind DDoS protection we wrote ourselves.

Current on every Windrose build. When Kraken Express ships a patch, your server picks it up automatically. No manual updating, no version mismatch at login.

ServerDescription.json holds the server-wide settings: the server name, password protection, the maximum player count, and the invite code your friends use to join. The invite code is generated automatically and is case-sensitive; leave it as it is and share it exactly. One gotcha worth knowing before you edit anything: stop the server first, or your changes get overwritten. Our server configuration guide covers every field, and you can edit through the panel's Config Editor or as raw text.

WorldDescription.json controls each world: enemy health and damage multipliers, ship health and damage, boarding difficulty, shared quests, co-op stat scaling, co-op ship scaling and immersive exploration. Set a preset, or tune each value individually.

A Windrose server can hold several worlds. Keep a main world for the crew, a hardcore world for weekend raids, and switch between them by changing the active World Island ID, as documented in our managing worlds guide.

Each world takes one of three presets, or a fully custom setup:

Custom means real control: mob and ship multipliers, boarding difficulty and co-op scaling are all individual values, so "harder enemies but sturdier ships" is a valid configuration, not a preset compromise.

Need a bigger crew? We support up to 20 slots, the largest configuration we've verified stable on current builds; RAM scales with the crew and support will size it with you. Pricing is RAM-based from $14.80/month for an always-on server, on hardware with M.2 NVMe storage as standard, in regions across the United States, Brazil, South Africa, England, Germany, Thailand, Singapore and Australia. Automatic backups are included, with self-service restore documented in our backup and restore guide.

Attack traffic is handled by our in-house DDoS mitigation, written on XDP and eBPF. Packets are inspected in the network driver, before the operating system's network stack sees them, and attack traffic is dropped at wire speed. Attacks come in, your crew keeps sailing. No extra charge.

Windrose has no official mod support yet. Steam Workshop is on the roadmap without a date, and Kraken Express won't investigate bugs on modded games. Any host promising official-grade Windrose modding is ahead of the game itself.

What exists today is an active unofficial scene on Nexus Mods, built on UE4SS, .pak and Lua mods. Your GG Host server includes full SFTP access to its files, so you can experiment as that scene matures, and roll back with a backup restore if an update breaks a mod.
